Coaching Director

Born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario, David grew up immersed in hockey. With three uncles and a cousin who played in the NHL, the game was in his blood. He played AAA hockey throughout his youth and at age 15, moved to compete at the Junior B level with the Thorold Blackhawks. After three seasons, David earned a full scholarship to the University of Maine.

During this collegiate career, David served as captain of the NCAA Division l National Champion Maine Black Bears in his senior year. He was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team, earned Hockey East First-Team All-Star honors, and was recognized as an NCAA First Team All-American.

David has played in 775 professional hockey games over his 11 year career.

  • 1999-2002: Phoenix Coyotes / Springfield Falcons (NHL / AHL)
  • 2002-2003: Minnesota Wild / Houston Aeros - Calder Cup Champion (NHL / AHL)
  • 2003-2006: Buffalo Sabres / Rochester Americans (NHL / AHL)
  • 2006-2010: Spent 4 years playing in Europe, Dusseldorf DEL (Germany), Farajestad FBK (Sweden) and Graz 99ers (Austria).

Following his professional hockey career David went on to become an educator and teacher. He earned his Masters in Education and has been a classroom teacher for the past 14 years in Ontario, Canada. David also started his own business in Ontario, David Cullen Hockey. David's program has been running in Niagara, Canada since 2011. Clinics range from skills, skating, body contact, defense training, team training etc. He has coached and worked with various AAA programs in Canada and spends his spring and summer months back in Canada preparing players for the upcoming season.

David is excited to work with a great staff to bring high level training to players in the DFW.

Program Director

Michael was born in Cardiff, Wales, and moved with his family to Kingston, Ontario at a young age. He grew up playing hockey at all levels through college. After graduating from Queen’s University, Michael began his career in education at the American School Foundation in Monterrey, Mexico, where he taught 4th grade and served as the Director of Co-Curricular Activities. After four years in Mexico Michael and his young family moved to Dallas, where he has lived ever since.  Before transitioning to school administration Michael taught 4th grade and in the Gifted and Talented Program in the Richardson ISD. In 2010, the Diocese of Dallas offered Michael an administrative role at St. Rita Catholic School. Over the next decade, he served as principal at both St. Bernard and St. Paul Catholic Schools. In 2020, Michael became the K–12 Principal at Legacy Preparatory Charter Academy (LPCA) in Plano. In 2023, he joined the Dallas Stars as a coach in their youth player development program.


Michael brings a wealth of educational and leadership experience, along with love of hockey, to our program. He will work tirelessly with all involved to develop the StarCenter Athletic Academy into the premier sports academy for player development and academic excellence in DFW.

Learning Lab Instructional Coach

Born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, Adam grew up playing junior hockey as a goaltender for the Scarborough Young Bruins and the Markham Waxers. He went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University and became a certified Texas teacher.

His career in education began at West Junior High School in Richardson ISD, where he taught Science, Health and Physical Education while also coaching football and track. He later spent a decade at Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet, serving not only as a dedicated educator but also as department head. In recognition of his impact, he was named Richardson ISD's Teacher of the Year in 2012.

Now living in Richardson with his wife Amanda, he is a proud father of three daughters who have all played competitive soccer and basketball. He brings a wealth of teaching, coaching, and leadership experience to our program, and continues to inspire students both in and out of the classroom.
