Be one of the first to hit the ice at the Children's Health StarCenter Multisport Northlake and register for the Dallas Stars Metro Hockey League!
Since 1993, the DSMHL has provided an age and skill-appropriate structure for players who have advanced through our Little Rookies and Academy programs and are ready to begin team-based competition. The league continues to be run with one goal in mind – to give young players aged 4-18 an opportunity to learn and play the game in a positive developmental atmosphere that is impactful and fun!

Adult hockey leagues are available at the Children's Health StarCenter Multisport Northlake for players ages 18 and older and the following skill levels in the Senior Stars Hockey League.
- Division C
- Division D
- Division E

The Northlake Future Stars Recreational Volleyball League is designed to help young athletes build confidence and develop a genuine love for the game. The season includes eight (8) regular season games, plus a minimum of one (1) championship tournament game—all played exclusively at our Children’s Health StarCenter Multisport Northlake facility. Please note: this league does not include practices.
Regular Spring Season:
April 6 – June 5 | Wednesday night games
Championship Tournament Spring Season:
June 6 - 7
Teams are coached by parent volunteers. You may register as an individual, and we will place your player on an age‑appropriate team, or you may register as a full team.

LEARN TO SKATE & PLAY HOCKEY

The Dallas Stars are dedicated to finding new and interesting activities to help children stay active while developing hockey fans for life. As part of this focus, we are pleased to offer the Rookies program, presented by GEICO, across multiple ice facilities in Texas. We want to make it easy for everyone to get on the ice and have the opportunity to play, regardless of age or skill level.
Rookies programs are open to first time participants only. Programs rotate throughout locations four times a year. Please click the button below to find out what upcoming sessions are available and stay tuned for Children's Health StarCenter Multisport Northlake Rookies registration!
NORTHLAKE LITTLE ROOKIES (AGES 4-8)
Location - Children's Health StarCenter Multisport Northlake
Dates - April 11, 18, 25, May 2

Pre-Hockey: 45 minute class focusing on the beginning stages of learning to skate - forward and backward skating, swizzles, one-foot glides, and snowplow stops. Hockey gear is required. No sticks or pucks at this stage. All players must pass Pre Hockey before entering Hockey Academy.
Hockey Academy: 45 minute training session incorporating USA Hockey ADM-style drills, skill stations, and games. Players are divided by skill level. Hockey gear is required.

The Dallas Stars Try Skating for Free Program is a free program for participants of all ages who are interested in learning how to ice skate. Each session during the program, participants will receive 30 minutes of instruction with trained coaches to begin learning the basics of skating. Skaters will have the opportunity to skate for free during the public skating session held on the day of their class (if scheduling allows) in order to work on their skills and spend some time getting comfortable on the ice.

We are proud to administer Learn to Skate USA in our Skating Academy. This curriculum is the only Learn to Skate program endorsed by USA Hockey, US Speed Skating, Special Olympics, and US Figure Skating. Classes are organized into age specific levels and designed for any beginner to acquire the necessary skills to enjoy the sport of Ice Skating for a lifetime!
Ice Explorers: Ages 2-4
Snowplow Sam 1-4: Ages 3-6
Basic 1-6: Ages 7-14
Pre-Free Skate - Free Skate 3: Ages 6 & Up
Adult 1-6: Ages 15 & Up
Please note that each rink will have a mixture of these classes available.
